Uncut Sheet of Eight April 25, 1776 Pennsylvania Notes
Pennsylvania. April 25, 1776. Uncut Colonial Currency Sheet of Eight Notes. Choice to Superb Gem Crisp Uncirculated.
Fr. PA-201, 202, 203 & 204. This extremely rare 1776 dated Revolutionary War period original Uncut Sheet of notes is comprised of two blocks each with four different denominations including; 1 Shilling, 18 Pence, 2 Shillings and 2 Shillings Six Pence (times two). This nice Sheet has its full original broad marginal selvage and is boldly printed upon clean heavy cotton fiber period paper. Each individual note has magnificent bold red and brown signatures of Andrew Tybout and Josiah Hewes, and vivid red serial numbers. This Sheet is serial number 3163 and they appear virtually identical to the 18 Pence note seen illustrated on page 354 in Newman for this issue, which has the close serial number 3184. There is a centerfold between the two panels which barely touches the margin on two notes and there is some faint natural even tone to one pane. Overall, this is a wonderful major rarity with several Superb and Gem individual notes. Lots of original blue cotton fibers are seen within its handmade paper. This is the first Uncut Sheet of April 25, 1776 Pennsylvania Notes we have offered. Extremely Rare. (8 note sheet)
