1857 State of New York Military Appointment Document
1857-Dated, Partly-Printed Document Signed, by Governor "John A. King" & Adjutant General "Frederick Townsend," State of New York, Military Appointment, Choice Extremely Fine.
Governor John A. King & Adjutant General Frederick Townsend appoint James P. Winney as Adjutant of the 35th NY Militia. This original document measures 17" x 16" with it's original, official, bright yellow State Seal fully intact and looking magnificent at the lower left. Full Jumbo Sheet margins surround this folded document. Great vignettes at the central top and lower left are suplemented by four shields in the corner border designs and has strong deep brown signatures, making it highly attractive for display. A scarce and very decorative, early New York military appointment.
General Frederick Townsend was a Union Army General during the Civil War.
