Massachusetts "Paul Revere" Engraved Copper-plate Note May 25, 1775 Eighteen Shillings - Due Date May 25, 1776
Colony of Massachusetts Bay. May 25, 1775. Eighteen Shillings. Copper-plate Note Engraved by Paul Revere. Due Date of May 25, 1776. PMG Choice Fine-15.
Fr. MA-147. This historic 1775 Paul Revere Engraved copper plate note was issued just one month after the outbreak of the Revolutionary War. The vast majority of notes observed often have some condition flaws. The overall eye appeal of this PMG Net graded is excellent for Choice Fine-15 as illustrated in our images. Very evenly margined and clear texts except for two small punch hole cancels. Split restoration, pieces added noted on its holder. Punch Cancels. The signatures are well accomplished. The note has sealed fold splits and a small piece restored in the right central margin seen with scrutiny. Over the many years we have handled several of the historical notes and we have always considered them quite undervalued. One of only four to be PMG graded. This note is quite appealing in this price range and represents a tremendous value for its history and rarity.
