Miniature Portraits of New York State Legislators in 1798
c. 1850, 12 Miniature Portrait Prints, of New York State Legislators for 1798, Printed by Richard H. Pease, Albany, NY, & Other Prints, Lot of 15, Mostly Near Mint.
This lot consists of 12 miniature portraits of members of the New York legislature in 1798. These prints are lithographed copies made in the mid-1850s by Albany, NY printer, Richard H. Pease, from an engraved original in the New York State Library. These portraits, measuring about 2.5" x 2," were originally part of an 18" x 8" sheet of group portraits, which someone has cut into individual portraits. The individuals in this group are: Misters Gansevoort, Gelston, Van Vechtem, Jones, Cantine, Fonda, White, Hommedley, Graham, Silvester, Thompson and J. Morris. Two of these portraits have fold lines, the rest are like new. Also, three miniature prints published in 1903 from originals by E.D. French, of George Washington in uniform, Sir Henry Clinton, the capture of Major Andre. These pieces measure about 1 inch each, and are in choice condition. (15 items)
