c. 1750s Early Colonial Era Engraved Woodblock Illustration Printing Plate of a "Woman Killing a Fowl"
c. 1750s, Dutch-American Woodblock Illustration Printing Plate, Depicting a Rural Scene with a "Woman Killing a Fowl," Choice Very Fine.
Dated based upon style, woman's dress and imagery, this original Hand-engraved, unsigned, 3" x 2.25" Woodblock was made for printing an Illustration which shows a farmyard scene with Barn and Windmill in the background, in which a Woman is killing a fowl with her wicker basket at ready for transport, apparently for dinner. This woodblock is nicely engraved and in choice condition, specially considering its significant age. There are no cracks or scratches on the printable face. An attractive Colonial Era printing block featuring an idyllic country scene but for killing the fowl.
