$17 Georgia 1777 Blue-Green Seal "Rattlesnake" Note
Georgia. 1777 Blue-Green Seal. Seventeen Dollars. "Rattlesnake" vignette. Aparent restorations, signatures enhanced, design redrawn. PCGS graded Very Fine-35.
Fr. GA-93. This note is for collector's of both odd currency denominations and/or significant rarities. It is very well centered and deeply printed with red and black text within four large margins. There is a colorful, deep blue-green seal "Rattlesnake" vignette at the lower right. Some original press-bed and fingerprint blue-green ink smudging in the upper left, that was used for printing the seal. A couple of trivial sealed edge repairs are virtually invisible. Overall, this specimen is very rare, and an important $17 denomination being the highest of this issue. This note is similar in quality to the Newman plate illustration (this same denomination) as shown on page 148. This very rare $17 Revolutionary War period note is lacking in virtually all Colonial and Georgia Currency collections.
