Judge Writes In Regards To Trial

August 25, 1832, Letter Regarding a Trial, Brooklyn, Very Fine.

10" x 8". This 3-page letter is written in ink on fine laid paper with watermark of O & H. It is addressed to Charles Hawley Esq. and was written by P. W. Radcliff. A portion of the contents reads: "I have written him that I will provide the funds, to pay for the exemplifications to which will will necefsarily be voliminous & expensive, - but that it is wholly out of my power to do any thing beyond -". The letter is refering to a trial which Mr. Hawley had inquired about earlier and Mr. Radcliff is giving him all the information he had on the case. The letter states Radcliffe doesn't know much about the trial but a colleague does. He is also trying to arrange a meeting with Charles to discuss these issues. Remnants of a wax seal still exist and the back contains docketing information. The document is in very fine condition and is written very clearly. A wonderful correspondance piece. |
