November 19, 1860, Letter from Martha to her Brother, Wayensville, Choice Fine.
8.75" x 8", 2 page manuscript letter. Martha G. writes a letter to her brother apologizing for not getting in touch with him sooner. Included in the letter both a sense of how tough the winters have been as well as a longing to see family. She notes that they will not be able to come visit because they were unable to raise the money, and that this winter was been a cold one. She mentions that "Joe [her husband] is so busy now he has so much to do and no one to help him." Written in brown ink on fine-laid paper. A fine example of life in the 1800s in rural America.
