1785 Balloon Flights In Antiquity With Engravings

1785-Dated The European Magazine & London Review, Lot of 3 Issues, Containing an account of an attempt to cross the English Channel from Dublin by Balloon, and Engravings of Greek Coins, a Captain Cook Medal, an Octopus and other subjects, Extremely Fine.

These are original printings of this popular British magazine. The contents, measuring 8" x 5" are in excellent condition, still bound at the spine, with no covers. The wonderful Engravings could be removed and framed.

1. February 1785, containing an account of Captain James Cook and an engraving of a Medal in his honor made for the Royal Society, an engraving of Cook's successor, Captain James King, and an account of Balloon flight in antiquity!

2. March 1785, containing an account of 2 meteors seen in 1783, engravings of a nautilus and an octopus.

3. August 1785, containing an account of Crosbie's attempt to cross the English Channel by Balloon from Dublin, an account and engraving of the volcano on the island of St. Vincent, and an engraving of ancient Greek coins. (3 items).
