December 28, 1843-Dated, Printed Decree Signed by Interim Mexican President Valentin Canalizo in printed text, Renewing a Law from 1828 regarding Illegal Foreigners and Criminals in Mexico and the Necessity of having a Passport to enter the Nation, Choice Extremely Fine.

Decree measures about 6.25" x 9", 3 pages, unbound. Decree by the Mexican President communicated by the Governor of Durango to its citizenry, outlining procedures to prevent "lazy foreigners" and even criminals from entering the republic. The first of the articles spells out the requirements with which foreigners may legally enter the Republic, the documents they must obtain to remain in it, and the manner in which they are allowed to establish themselves. A second decree declaration regarding Passports continues on pages 4-8, dated December 28, 1843 Signed in the printed type at the conclusion by Marcelino Castaeda. Valentn Canalizo (1794-850) was a Mexican general and statesman who served Twice as Interim President during the Centralist Republic of Mexico and was later made Minister of War during the Mexican American War. Exceedingly Rare. We could find no copies listed in OCLC. |
