1874 West Point Military Academy, Partially-Printed Document Signed Graduation Diploma, Signed by Numerous Generals, printed in black, on Vellum, large folio, measuring 16" x 21.5", Choice Extremely Fine. This beautiful, highly ornate diploma is issued by West Point to William S. Davies of Ohio, who graduated in June of 1874. Signed by a contingent of his professors -- many of whom had served as Generals during the Civil War. Signatures include: THOMAS HOWARD RUGER, Union general wounded in the head at Antietam, Signed as the Superintendent of the Academy; ROBERT W. WEIR, the great Hudson River artist who served as drawing instructor at the academy for 40 years; GEORGE LEONARD ANDREWS, Union General who trained Black troops in the Mississippi Valley during the Civil War. This rare historical diploma has some typical light wrinkling and nice eye appeal and overall condition.
